Head shot of a woman

Danielle Evans
LMFTA

Danielle is an associate licensed marriage and family therapist. She is a proud Pirate and a two-time graduate of East Carolina University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Family and Community Services and her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Danielle understands that beginning therapy can be one of the most vulnerable and brave steps a person can take toward getting the help they deserve. She recognizes that opening up to a new therapist about one’s innermost challenges can feel overwhelming, so she strives to provide all her clients with a safe and affirming space. She aims to develop a meaningful therapeutic relationship that helps clients feel secure and empowered, enabling them to reach their goals by recognizing and befriending their innate resources of faith, love, and trust.

As a therapist who practices Emotionally Focused Therapy, Danielle believes that change occurs when people learn to identify, validate, and attune to their own emotions. She also encourages greater emotional vulnerability within oneself and with trusted others, which can open pathways to healing that may have previously gone unrecognized. Danielle also introduces and guides clients through emotion regulation skills to help support clients in managing difficult feelings, both in and outside of sessions.

In addition, Danielle focuses on helping clients track and recognize interaction patterns in how they relate to themselves and others. Identifying these patterns allows clients to view the pattern itself as the problem, rather than blaming themselves or those around them. Through this process, clients learn to recognize the deeper issues connected to attachment needs and develop healthier ways to communicate those needs while also responding to the needs of others. By building these skills, clients can work toward healing past wounds, strengthening current relationships, and cultivating the meaningful changes they want to see in their lives.

Most importantly, Danielle views therapy as a collaborative process, both within the therapeutic relationship and beyond, by encouraging the involvement of partners, peers, family members, or chosen family members in the healing process. She believes a collaborative approach can assist in maintaining change and helps clients feel supported, seen, and understood while working towards change. Danielle also believes involving trusted loved ones in your journey can create opportunities for real-time emotionally corrective experiences, where you can process past wounds and foster stronger relationships.

When she is not working, Danielle enjoys spending time with her husband, their dog Atlas, friends, and family. In addition to spending quality time with loved ones, she enjoys weightlifting, serving her community through doing volunteer work, horseback riding, and exploring local coffee shops.
