Now taking new clients (no wait)!
Savanna is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC-A) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with experience helping individuals learn to navigate obstacles, ranging from day-to-day stressors, to eating disorders and complex trauma. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from East Carolina University.
She has a passion for helping individuals and couples navigate anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, grief, and relationship challenges using a collaborative, trauma-informed approach. Savanna finds herself using a person-centered or cognitive behavioral (CBT) approach most often, but pulls from a variety of modalities, in order to provide each client with support that will fit their needs best. In a therapeutic relationship, Savanna believes that the client is the expert in the room. You are the person who has lived your life, navigated your experiences, and developed a unique understanding of yourself. While you already possess valuable insight, life’s challenges can sometimes make it difficult to see the full picture. As a therapist, she views her position as an opportunity to collaborate with clients by offering support, curiosity, and an outside perspective that can help you make sense of difficult emotions, untangle conflicting thoughts, and move toward the changes that matter most to you.
Savanna also likes to incorporate faith-based counseling, for those who want it. The same way that counselors meet clients where they’re at, so does Christ; but we won’t leave you there to face it alone. One of her favorite bible verses is 2 Timothy 1:7, which says,” For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” Sometimes when our thoughts get loud and life gets scary or stressful, it can be hard to make out the good and God in it all. In therapy, Savanna aims to help clients work through their fears, and create a sound, peaceful mind, from a Christ-centered perspective.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find her with her boyfriend, friends, family, or her fur-babies.Because she loves her fur-babies, one of her goals is to get a therapy dog within the next few years. Savanna also believes that caring for her mental health goes hand in hand with caring for her physical health. Whether she is at the gym, taking a long walk, or enjoying time outdoors, Savanna finds that staying active helps her feel grounded and recharged.
Savanna strives to create an inviting environment where people can feel safe in their most vulnerable moments, and hope for the future. Savanna’s ultimate goal is for people to feel loved, supported, and understood in a way that sets them up for growth toward the changes they want to see.
